KARACHI: A delegation of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) – former coalition partner of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the last government – is set to visit the latter’s headquarters Nine-Zero in Karachi on Sunday for a ‘final round’ of talks regarding formation of a coalition government in Sindh.

Sources told Dawn.com that MQM has already agreed to join the PPP’s provincial government. However, the Sunday’s meeting is expected to finalise the deal in this regard.

Both parties were scheduled to meet at the Chief Minister House on Sunday. However, the venue was changed upon MQM’s insistence who did not want this to be perceived as the party’s eagerness to assume power in the province.

Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, former interior minister Rehman Malik, Speaker Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani among other PPP leaders are expected to be part of the visiting delegation.

Dr Farooq Sattar, Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Amir Khan, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and other leaders of MQM’s Rabita (coordination) Committee will host the PPP leaders.

President Asif Ali Zardari has already approved a MQM-comprised coalition government in Sindh. Moreover, Durrani and Malik have also hinted the same in the recent past.
