RAWALPINDI, May 12: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board and Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) are meeting on Tuesday to resolve their dispute over the payment of dues.

The meeting scheduled to be held here at 10 corp is being organized on the directives of the corps commander, Lt-Gen Arif Hassan.

Both the bodies have made claims and counter-claims of millions of rupees dues pending against each other.

They had also accused each other of overcharging and overbilling.

The cantonment board has claimed Rs647 million outstanding against the power supply company on account of property tax, line rent and ground rent, while the Iesco has refused to pay the amount on the plea that it is a public utility- providing company and not supposed to pay any taxes.

On the other hand, the Iesco has claimed Rs140 million arrears pending against the civic body on account of monthly electricity bills.

The cantonment board has raised objections alleging the power supply company of overbilling.
