LAHORE, June 7: The Lahore High Court summoned on Friday the EDO (Health) on a petition filed by a drug inspector suspended by the authorities for taking action against the officials involved in theft of measles vaccine’s freezers.

Suspended inspector Bilal Yasin pleaded in his petition that he investigated a matter of 40 freezers’ theft and recommended action against guilty officials.

He alleged that he had been subjected to victimization at the behest of the mafia involved in the theft.

He prayed to the court to set aside his suspension and order the authorities to reinstate him to the service.

The court observed that on the one hand the children were dying of measles while on the other hand officers were being victimized for taking action against responsible officials. The court admitted the petition for hearing and summoned the EDO (Health) on June 11.
