MITHI, May 10: Tharparkar District Nazim Arbab Ataullah has refused to supervise the distribution of wheat bags being provided at subsidized rates.

As many as 89,000 bags of wheat are to be distributed among people of the drought-hit Tharparkar district.

In a letter sent to the Sindh chief secretary and other authorities concerned, the district Nazim said 50,000 relief wheat bags were misappropriated last year by local influential people but no one paid heed to his complaints in this regard.

He said he had apprised the relevant authorities of the matter through various letters and had demanded inquiries into the embezzlement of relief wheat but in vain.

He said he had been asked to constitute vigilance and distribution committees of elected representatives at district, taluka and union council levels.
