No electricity for 15 days

Published May 10, 2003

SADIQABAD, May 9: Residents of three localities in Chachran Sharif have been braving heat as an electricity transformer went out of order almost 15 days ago.

The transformer supplying electricity to Ghourian, Qureshian and Kumharan localities developed a fault. Wapda staff failed to repair or replace the defective transformer despite repeated complaints.

There is no water in the area. At night, there is complete darkness exposing the localities to robbers and thieves. Old people and children are the worst sufferers.

Wapda’s Zahir Pir office staff, when contacted, could not give any plausible reason for delay in restoration of electricity.

BAIL REJECTED: An additional sessions judge has rejected the bail of a Hudood case accused.

According to FIR, accused Jamshed alias Kaka of Chak 149/P raped ‘S’ when she was alone in her house.
