MANSEHRA, May 16: Sooba Hazara Tehreek (SHT) has warned of launching a protest campaign against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in centre and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if they failed to pass a resolution in favour of Hazara province from the assemblies within 90 days after the oath-taking ceremony.

“The Awami National Party has met its logical end in May 11 general elections due to its anti-people polices and changing the name of the province to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It’s now PML-N and PTI’s turn to deliver as promised in their election manifestos and give Hazara division the status of a province,” said Mushtaq Khan, the SHT convener, at a press conference here on Thursday.

Mr Khan said that now there was no hurdle in the way of creating Hazara province, as both PTI chief Imran Khan and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif had promised at public gatherings here that they would give Hazara the status of a province.

“The people of Hazara are fortunate as their dream of a separate province of Hazara is going to be realised soon,” he said.

The SHT convener said that the PTI should pass a resolution demanding the establishment of Hazara province from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and move it to the federal government where the PML-N would accomplish the remaining formalities for the separate province.

POLL RIGGING: Awami National Party candidate for PK-58 Nimroz Khan on Thursday alleged that polls in his constituency were rigged.

Speaking at a press conference here in Oghi, he claimed that presiding officers and other election staff polled a large number of fake votes in his constituency in Torghar to favour the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) candidate.

Mr Nimroz, who lost to Zareen Gul Khan of JUI-F, said that women were not allowed to cast vote in the entire Torghar district, but the presiding officers and other polling staff themselves stamped female votes.

He urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to first verify his claims and if found true then order fresh election in the constituency.

He claimed that the ANP can never be defeated in Torghar as it had given the status of district to the region and protected the basic rights of people of the area.
