ATTOCK, May 14: Hundreds of PTI workers and their voters on Tuesday staged a sit-in near Judicial Complex after holding a protest rally against, what they termed, rigging in the NA-57 Attock-1.

However, they could not enter the complex in the presence of heavy police and elite force which cordoned off the entire area. The PTI rally was led by district president Waheed Murad, general secretary Rana Liaqut Ali Khan and Senior Vice President North Punjab Taimour Aslam.

The protesters reached the session courts after passing through main bazaar, Committee Chowk and Katchery Chowk. They were holding party flags and placards inscribed with slogans against ‘rigging’, and demanded votes recounting.

Later they staged a sit-in at Attock-Kamra road near Session Chowk, causing suspension of traffic.

Meanwhile, the PTI’s losing candidate in NA-57, Amin Aslam on Tuesday filed application with the district Returning officer (DRO) and Returning officer (RO), seeking recounting of votes. — Correspondent
