KARACHI, May 9: Collector, sales tax & central excise (West), Sohail Afzal, has assured the commercial exporters of his full cooperation towards the release of funds for the disbursement of sales tax refunds.

In a meeting with the Pakistan Commercial Exporters of Towels Association (PCETA) delegation led by its vice-chairman (South circle) Mazhar Ali, the collector was in full agreement that early release of refund would contribute towards growth of exports.

Mr Mazhar expressed his concern that delay in sales tax refund is creating liquidity problem for the exporters. He also informed the collector that extra export demand from the EU could only be met if the process of refund is expedited.

Mr Mazhar also conveyed to the collector difficulty faced by the exporters because of multiple audits in a single year and demanded one audit in a year for smooth flow of export.

The collector promised to look into the matter carefully so that there should not be any hindrance in the flow of exports.
