KARACHI, May 7: The government-run colleges in the city are likely to get the internet facility within a month time, it was learnt officially.

Sources in the office of the Executive District Officer (Higher Education) said that principals of all the colleges had been asked to ensure provision of Internet facility at computer laboratories of their respective colleges or at any other suitable place.

To update the existing computer labs and for dissemination of computer education at college level, the EDO(HE) urged the college authorities to acquire the internet connections within a month and report to him, added the source.

It was learnt that the colleges would have to bear the cost of internet connectivity, preferably, through cable internet service providers.

In the first phase of the project, the service could be made available at 90 colleges, which were already equipped with computers, added the source.

ACRs OF OFFICERS: In the meantime, the EDO (HE) has also asked the district officers, education, for colleges and technical institutions, to furnish the Annual Confidential Reports of the officers of grade 19 and 18, alongwith the qualifications slips, synopses and other relevant papers, immediately, for onward submission to the provincial education department.

The selection boards, I and II are scheduled to meet shortly, added a sources in the city government education department.
