KARACHI: Notice to NBP chief

Published May 8, 2003

KARACHI, May 7: Notices were issued to the President of National Bank of Pakistan and other officers by a division bench of High Court of Sindh, comprising Justice Muhammed Roshan Essani and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, in a petition challenging recovery of mark-up on house finance loan.

Petitioner Muzaffar Ali Khan, who obtained a house finance loan of Rs 0.3 million, moved the court maintaining that since 1992 when loan was issued to him, he paid back the entire principal amount to the bank by the end of year 1995.

He maintained that on his demand the bank refused to return the mortgaged documents of plot owned by him in sector F-10, Islamabad, unless he pays Rs50,000 as mark-up against the loan obtained by him.—APP
