‘Consensus’ NFC Award

LAHORE, May 5: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said on Monday that the National Finance Commission Award would be based on the consensus of all the four provinces.

He was talking to newsmen after speaking at a meeting of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry here.

He said that the federal government was aware of the importance of the NFC Award and was working to obtain the consensus of the provincial governments on it. As soon the consensus was available it would be announced.

To a question, he said that negotiations between the government and the opposition on LFO were going on in a friendly atmosphere. He was optimistic about positive results soon.

To another question, he said that the government was investigating into the case of provincial minister Aslam Iqbal who had gone to a Lahore police station to help his brother.—Reporter
