ISLAMABAD, May 5: The National Institute of Health, following the health ministry’s directives, has dispatched lab items to Khungrab at Pakistan-China border to deal with any suspected cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

According to a health ministry statement issued on Monday, the step was aimed at taking immediate preventive measures against the deadly disease. The lab items include face masks, gloves, syringes and needles, viral transport medium, sterile swabs etc.

The governments of Pakistan and China have already sealed the common border till June 1 as a precautionary measure.
