ISLAMABAD, May 3: The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) has constituted a four-member committee to chalk a strategy for the government-opposition talks on the Legal Framework Order.

The committee, formed at a meeting held at the PML-N House here on Saturday, comprised former federal ministers Sartaj Aziz, Ahsan Iqbal and Syed Zafar Ali Shah and Senator Sadia Abbasi.

The meeting was attended by PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, acting president Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Sardar Yaqoob Nasir, Iftikhar Jhagra, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Sartaj Aziz, Ahsan Iqbal, and Siddiqul Farooq.

On the occasion, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the deputy parliamentary party leader in the National Assembly and party’s representative in the talks on the LFO, briefed the meeting on the outcome of the maiden session.

He said that they would never compromise on the LFO and president’s uniform and the chances of a deal on the LFO were remote.

Talking to Dawn after the meeting, the former MNA Syed Zafar Ali Shah said the committee, which is to meet on Sunday (today) would prepare a report on the implications of the LFO on the Constitution and parliamentary system.

On the Jamaat-i-Islami chief’s statement which said that the MMA would launch a protest campaign if talks failed, he said the PML-N had not decided on the issue yet. However, the party would go along with the decision of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) in this regard, he added.
