PESHAWAR: The initial unofficial results of individual polling stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is showing a swing in favour of Pakistani Tehrik-i-Insaf as predicted by the political pundits.

On most of these polling stations, the PTI candidates are leading by a huge margin, indicating the young voters are vying for political change.

Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan is contesting from the historic NA-1 constituency against the most seasoned and strong ANP candidate Ghulam Ahmed Bilour, who had thrice won this seat in 1990, 1997 and 2008.

But the results seems to be giving an indication that lady luck is smiling on the PTI chief this time as in most of the ANP, PPP strongholds in Peshawar City’s NA-1, Imran Khan is ahead by a ratio of 5 ratio 1.

The PPP-P and ANP leaders are themselves astonished to see the huge turnout as people from all age groups. Even women with their siblings were seen thronging the polling stations all the day, among them the most enthusiastic were first time youngsters.

The PTI has a clean sweep on most of the polling stations in Gulbahar, GT Road, Interior City and even areas where the ANP and PPP-P had never lost their ideological vote.

The NA-3 candidate of PTI Sajid Nawaz is also ahead so far, according to unofficial results of the 15 polling stations with 6362, JUI-F Ghulam 1241 and PPP-P’s Noor Alam Khan 831 votes.
