RAHIMYAR KHAN, April 27: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday urged the elements behind attacks on political leaders and workers to stop such activities.

He has been addressing public meetings in south Punjab for the last several days in a bid to lift the spirit of his party candidates and supporters for the coming general elections.

At a meeting here on Saturday, Mr Khan said those carrying out bomb attacks should wait for some time as a new Pakistan was in the making.

He said the day of accountability for ‘feudal lords’ of Rahimyar Khan was fast approaching and asked people of the area to elect a new leadership to help bring about change in the country.

He said his party would make the NAB an independent and autonomous department and promised to hold local body elections within 90 days after coming into power.

He criticised Shahbaz Sharif who, he said, had failed to provide good governance as chief minister of Punjab.

He predicted that ‘corrupt’ politicians and ‘circus lions’ would be voted out by the people on May 11. He said Punjab could have generated enough electricity to meet the province’s power needs but the chief minister continued to observe protests by waving ‘hand fans’ at Minto Park in Lahore.

Former chairman of RYK municipal committee and former MNA Mian Abdul Khaliq, along with his supporters, joined PTI after a meeting with Imran Khan.
