SUKKUR, April 9: Sindh food department has constituted a six-member committee for wheat procurement through 26 centres across the province, Dawn learnt on Tuesday.

The procurement committee would be headed by Sukkur deputy commissioner.

All the district food controllers in Sukkur division have been directed to achieve the target of procuring 650,000 wheat bags at a price of Rs1,200 per maund. District food controller Mohammad Suleman Soomro said on Tuesday that the six-member procurement committee would also include members from the chamber of commerce and agricultural department. He was confident that wheat procurement target will be comfortably achieved.

Talking about an conducting an inquiry into the infected wheat stock stored in the PLC godown of the food department, he said that he was not aware of the matter.—BoC
