QUETTA: Power supply could not be restored till Monday evening to 17 districts of Balochistan which were hit by an outage between Saturday and Sunday night after unidentified people blew up four 220kv pylons in Bakhtiarabad and Chattar areas.

The technicians of the National Transmission and Dispatch Company could not start repair work on the pylons because authorities failed to give them security clearance.

MAN KILLED: A man was shot dead in Turbat on Monday when he tired to snatch a rifle from the guard of Mastung Deputy Commissioner Tufail Ahmed.

Levies sources said the deputy commissioner was on a visit to Turbat when an unidentified man attacked his guard and tried to snatch his official weapon. Offering resistance, the guard opened fire, killing the unidentified attacker.

Levies personnel took the body to civil hospital.

ARRESTED: Police and the Frontier Corps took into custody 16 suspects during search operations in Quetta and Gwadar on Sunday night, official sources said.

The search operations were conducted after information was received that some suspects were present in parts of the two cities.

Two submachine-guns, one 12-bore repeater, four pistols with 51 rounds, two 12-bore guns and a Kalakope with 103 rounds were seized during the operations.
