KASUR, March 2: The Sheikhupura region police officer took action against the Pattoki DSP and a sub-inspector over corruption charges in an open court at Allahabad Police Station here on Saturday.

RPO Zulfiqar Cheema addressed a public meeting at an open court at Allahabad Police Station and listened to the public’s complaints. He said corrupt officials would not be tolerated in the police department and the public be given due respect at police stations.

Following a complaint, the RPO suspended Pattoki DSP Muhammad Sabir Bhutta over corruption charges. In a separate case, he ordered arrest of SI Abdul Rehman and registration of an FIR against him for alleged corruption in a murder case. The Allahabad police arrested their own officer in the open court amid scuffles.

The RPO also warned Allahabad SHO Mian Moazzam to eradicate narcotics from his jurisdiction within one week or meet the same fate.

He said kidnappers for ransom would be dealt with bullet or death sentence. He urged the police to be honest and dedicated towards their duty and expressed his desire to replace dishonest officials with honest and dutiful ones.
