ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: Kashmir Committee Chairman Maulana Fazlur Rehman has underscored the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue, saying unless the long-standing dispute is resolved other steps for peace in the sub-continent will fail to produce result.

Pakistan and India, he said, had signed agreements in transport, communication, sports, culture, immigration and trade sectors but these pacts would make little progress due to the Kashmir dispute.

Maulana Fazl said India was making efforts to declare Pakistanis extremists and terrorists.

However, Pakistan had always told them that extremism and terrorism had no religion or territorial boundary and now Indian home minister himself had admitted existence of terrorist camps in India being run by Hindu extremists.

Kashmir, he said, was the core issue which needed to be resolved as early as possible. He urged the Pakistani government not to accord the Most Favoured Nation status to India unless it removed its reservations.
