LAHORE, Jan 21: A musical evening featuring a noted French artist was held at a local hotel on Monday. The evening, organised by Alliance Francaise, was dedicated to late Faizaan Peerzada.

Speaking on the occasion, Alliance Francaise Director Dominique Scobry said Faizaan was a great friend of the French cultural centre and his efforts and services to promote art and culture were unforgettable.

He said Faizaan was also a friend of the artist of the evening, Abaji, and considering his contribution to art and culture, the centre had decided to pay a tribute to him through the musical night.

Usman Peerzada said his brother Faizaan’s death had created a void that could not be filled. He was a true artist and more of a painter than a puppeteer.

Before his death, he was preparing to hold an exhibition of his artworks and had finished work on six paintings, Usman said.

Abaji, an instrumentalist, performed some of his best music in the honour of Faizaan, besides creating a fusion with classical vocalists Chand and Suraj.

Abaji told the media it was his third visit to Pakistan and Lahore had a special place in his heart for its responsive audience and because the Peerzadas lived here.
