THIS is in response to Javed Jabbar’s letter ‘Pakistani PoWs: correct figure’ (Dec 23). I support the figures of the writer as there were only three infantry divisions (Div 9, Div 14, and Div 16) deployed in East Pakistan.
There was another division raised a few days before the war broke out but it lacked equipment and strength. The above-mentioned full divisions too were neither properly armed nor did they have full strength.
