LAHORE, Dec 30: Two alleged robbers were killed in a police encounter near Jubilee Town in Chuhng early on Sunday. Police claimed the deceased were wanted by the police in several cases.

Saddar SP (Operations) Adeel Hussain Chandio told Dawn Muhafiz Force officers signalled two motorcyclists to stop on Defence Road around 3am, but they opened fire on the police and sped away.

The officers began chasing the suspects and also alerted the Sher Shah police checkpost, the SP said. He said another police team chased the suspects when they reached Jubilee Town that resulted in an exchange of fire. The suspects were critically injured and shifted to Jinnah Hospital where they died. Police later identified the deceased as Ali Chand and Haider Faryad.

An official said it was established during initial findings both suspects had murdered a constable outside the Police Training College, Chuhng, and another constable at a petrol station in Nawab Town a few weeks ago. Police were also trying to find other cases. against the deceased.
