ATTOCK, Dec 7: The Punjab government will provide solar energy penal to the 10th class students of government schools at their home so that they could continue their studies uninterrupted in view of massive loadshedding.

The executive district officer (EDO), education, Dr Umar Farooq, on Friday told a meeting that the Punjab government had introduced an “Ujaalah” scheme, under which  the students of 10th class, who had obtained 55 per cent marks in the Secondary School Certificate Part-1 examination(9th class), would be eligible for the facility.

He said a total 3,559 eligible students had been identified in six tehsils of the district -- Attock, Hazro, Hasanabdal, Fatehjang, Pindigheb  and  Jand.

The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) will facilitate the students in installation of the solar energy penal.

The meeting was  attended by the officials of Tevta, education  and others  government department, which was chaired by   Additional deputy commissioner Chaudhry  Mohammad  Ali Rindawa.

In another related development, the Malala Danish school  starts functioning in Jand.

According to sources, initially 200 students including girls have been enrolled in the school. Highly qualified faculties have been recruited for the school to deliver quality and standard education among the students, they claimed.

They said that Mst Rifat Naz had been appointed Girls section’s Principal and admin officer Major (Rtd) Sher Afzal will supervise boys section till the permanent appointment of principal, they said.

Moreover two percent quota has been allocated for the students of Swat and Fata areas of Khyber Paktunkhwa, they maintained.

As per policy, only students of poor people would be provided free of cost books, uniform besides hostel, mess and other facilities, they maintained.

However others student can also take admission under self-finance scheme, under which they would have to pay Rs12,000 monthly fee.
