Healthcare problems

Published November 18, 2012

Healthcare got relatively short shrift during the recent Quebec election campaign…. The former Liberal government announced in 2007 that surgical wait times for all types of cancer would be reduced to less than four weeks. But five years later, it seems that patients who get treatment within that time limit are far more the exception than the rule. …Former provincial health minister Claude Castonguay … is suggesting that the government come forth with a major policy paper on healthcare and hold legislative hearings on it, or else organise a policy summit … [T]here is no guarantee that either route would lead to a lasting fix. But when Claude Castonguay speaks about healthcare, people should listen. — (Nov 13)
