LAHORE, Nov 8: Starting the metro bus in Lahore next month appears to be quite difficult for the technical persons engaged with the project, claiming that the construction of its path will only be completed by the end of January.

“Completion of the pathway is the first step and it will require more time to provide for allied facilities and services,” a senior official, wishing not to be named, said on Thursday.

The government wants to start the bus service on the multi-billion path being constructed for it at present by the end of this year mainly because of the expected announcement of fresh elections early next year.

“It’s a real tough task (to run the service in December). Let us see what they (the government) do,” the official who knows every bit of the project said.

According to him, construction of the pathway is the first step towards introducing the service. It’s true that the government had already placed orders for the buses but a lot many things still need to be done.

For example, the official said it was required to construct tube type bus stations, around 25 flyovers at intersections, install escalators and establish an indulgent traffic system.
