The Establishment Division has again sought an explanation from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) as to why it extended the contracts of two management pay (MP) scale officers without taking approval from the prime minister, it has been learnt.
In a letter to the HEC dated October 24, a copy of which is available with Dawn, the Establishment Division said it had already been conveyed to the commission on September 3 that the appointing authority in case of MP scale officers would be the prime minister.
