GUJRAT, Sept 24: Federal Minister for Water and Power Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar says his brother Ahmed Saeed’s joining of PML-N will not affect his (Mukhtar’s) association with the PPP.

“It has been a habit of my brother to change political affiliations in his own interest,” he told Dawn by phone.

Mukhtar said Ahmad Saeed had got the chairmanship of Agricultural Development Bank from Benazir Bhutto. Later, he got the chairmanship of the PIA from Gen Pervez Musharraf, the man who had put him (Mukhtar) in the jail purely on political grounds as he had refused to ditch the PPP. “Actually it was my brother who got benefits from my incarceration.”

Mukhtar said he would contest the next election if his party asked him to do so and it would not bother him if Saeed was his rival.

He said as per an understanding with the PML-Q, he would be the joint nominee of the alliance from NA-105 since he won the seat in the last election.

He said he would never part ways with the PPP.
