DACCA: The Government group in the East Pakistan Provincial Assembly — named the People’s Democratic group — today released its 11-point manifesto, declaring, inter alia, that it will work for the realisation of the values and regulative principles of Islam “in our individual and collective life”.

A spokesman of the Group said today the Government party inside the House would enjoy “a very comfortable majority” but did not disclose the number of supporters.

It is learnt reliably that 100 members had put their signatures on this manifesto till this afternoon.

A Government Whip told this correspondent that they were continuing their efforts to muster more support in favour of the Government, and was confident that they would be able to enlist the support of 130 members in a House of 155.

Meanwhile, the Chief Whip of the Government group, Mr K. K. Panni, is understood to have requested the Secretary of the Assembly to make separate seating arrangement for the members of his group.

He has also supplied him with a list of his supporters. The newly-constituted Government group is yet to elect its leader, who will automatically be the leader of the House.

But according to indications available from parliamentary circles, the election of Mr A. T. M. Mustafa, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, is a certainty.

His name is likely to be announced as the leader of the House within a couple of days....—Dacca Correspondent
