LAHORE, July 29: Scores of Shah Jamal residents attacked the Water and Sanitation Agency’s admin and revenue directorates’ office in the locality after suspension of water supply to the area on early Sunday.

The irritated residents quarreled with the office security staff and manhandled a guard, Muhammad Farhan.

They chanted slogans against Wasa and Wapda, holding them responsible for the situation.

They demanded the quarters concerned should rectify the fault that caused suspension of supply and ensure provision of water to the area.

Wasa Director (Admin) Muhammad Irfan was called on the spot by office security officials after failing to control the mob.

“I rushed to the spot and calmed the people. After sometime we restored the supply to the area by arranging a generator to run the tube-well,” Irfan told Dawn.

He said he would recommend a departmental action against the officials concerned who failed to restore the water supply by timely arranging the generator. — Staff Reporter
