ANP accepts MQM invitation to visit Nine Zero

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) met with leaders of the Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday. During the meeting, ANP leaders accepted the MQM's invitation to visit Nine Zero in Karachi, DawnNews reported.

The meeting took place at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad where leaders from ANP Sindh were also present.

Speaking to media representatives after the meeting, MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar said that “the country’s political and religious leadership must sit together in order to save the country”.

He also told reporters regarding his talks with ANP leaders on Karachi's law and order situation.

Moreover, ANP leader Haji Adeel said that his party believed in resolving issues through negotiations.

Adeel lauded MQM's proposal of a round table conference, adding that, so far, his party had not contacted the prime minister on the subject.

Adeel added that "restoration of peace in Karachi was important to both MQM and ANP."

A positive gesture from MQM and a positive reply from ANP. I request both these parties to work together and restore peace in Karachi. Make it a nice and peaceful place to live. We have lost enough lives and don't want to see any more blood on Karachi streets.

Whats law & order situation got to do with the political parties. Isnt it the Sindh Police job to ensure law & order in Karachi? By meeting to discuss law & order, arnt they accepting the fact that both parties have something to do with messing up the law & order in karachi? If they are serious about this, why not de-weaponise their armed wings? And for that matter de-weaponise every other political party in karachi?

First solve Karachi law and order problem before wasting time on other issues. If PPP and MQM with largest number of MPA's in Sindh Assembly, are sincere with Karachi public, problem can be solved in no time..Karachi demography is changing fast if MQM wants to represent Karachi , it has to get sympathy of all the ethnic population. If not, in the next five years MQM will be sitting in opposition in Sindh Assembly.

Principle of Pakistan politics is no tolerance specially so it is in Sindh and Karachi. It is against theorey of politics that a political party goes on winning elections after election in Sindh and Karachi. This is a clear case of coercion. Some body has to stop it other wise Sindh and Karachi are doomed.

Meeting for the sake of showing to the public is not enough. Meaningful dialogue is required with long lasting solution. Show to the public it is not political or election gimmick

Its a good turn towards the safety of Karachi and Pakistan. These parties are the stake holder of Karachi, and they are making money and cutting peoples in order to show their strength. Despite of all the facts, it may possible that they are thinking about this situation seriously. It may be an election strategy, time will show their thinking. I just pray that pakistani people should listen them but should do their own move after judging them.

They all are already looking so tense. How could they make a peace when dead bodies of these parties still falling on the streets.???????????? .All parties conference is just another chance for the govt. to legitimize itself in the eyes of the people. Because in the last over 4 yrs they miserably failed to serve the masses. Now they want to have these kind of conferences to portray themselves that they are serious about issues.

Indeed Jawwad, both parties (MQM & ANP) are seriously concerned about Imran Khan's popularity in Karachi; and have to find a way to keep their monopoly going. Once elections are over, they will be back on each others’ throats again. Their hatred for each other goes beyond political issues,, they are sadly but truthfully cultural and financial along with territorial within their own country. Hopefully, PTI will challenge them by securing confidence of the young educated voters to become the difference maker. It will be interesting after the elections.

It's quite interesting part of round table conference suggested by MQM & accepted with open arms by the ANP. It's a real concern, why now? when the ships of MQM are sinking every day in Karachi city? Does MQM understand diplomacy of peace? NO, they will not at all. They are just buying the time. Now they in the hot water not only in Karachi but also out of Karachi area.
