ISLAMABAD, July 21: A motorcyclist was killed on Saturday after being hit by a passenger wagon, when its driver, all of a sudden changed lane in a bid to pick up a passenger – violating traffic rules on Islamabad Highway, police said.

The motorcyclist, Junaid Khan 25, a resident of Sohan met with the accident when the route no. 3 passenger wagon hit him. As a result Khan’s head crashed first against the side window and later he hit the rear windscreen that was broken. It pierced through the neck of the youth who started bleeding excessively. He was rushed to a hospital where he died.

The police were also informed who arrested the driver and put him behind the bars besides impounding the vehicle for further legal action.

Police said that Khan was plying his motorcycle at the left side of the highway. However, the wagon which was moving at extreme right side of the road suddenly changed the lane and first overtook a vehicle wrongly and then hit the motorcyclist in an attempt to pick up a passenger standing under the pedestrian bridge.

The passenger was not standing at the prescribed wagon stop and the accused driver violated the lane and bus stop rules that cost Khan his life.
