KALAYA/PARACHINAR, July 7: Three security personnel suffered injuries when two of their vehicles were targeted by landmines in Gaween area while six missiles were fired at Kalaya, the agency headquarters of Orakzai Agency, on Saturday.

Sources said that two vehicles of security forces, on way to Mashti Mela, were hit by landmines one after another in Gaween and Khwari villages. Both the vehicles were damaged partially while three security men identified as naib subedar Abdul Baseer, lance naik Omar Fayaz and sepoy Talib Jan were injured in the blasts. The injured security men were taken to CMH Kohat.

Also, militants fired six missiles at Kalaya at 12:00 noon from the mountains. However, no loss of life or property was reported in the incident as the missiles landed at open fields.

In Kurram Agency, a pro-government tribal elder was shot dead in Bagan Town on Saturday.

Officials said that unidentified persons opened firing on Malik Abdul Wazeh, chief of Watezai tribe, in lower Kurram Agency. He was killed on the spot, they added.

Political authorities registered a case against unidentified assailants and started investigation. The political administration also arrested 10 persons under the collective responsibility clause of Frontier Crimes Regulation.
