QUETTA, July 7: Eight coalmine workers were kidnapped from Marwar area in Balochistan on Saturday, Levies sources said.

“Eight coalminers were working in a coalmine in Marwar when they were taken away by unidentified armed men to some unknown location,” a Levies official said.

The kidnapped miners, who belong to Swat, were identified as Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Ishaq, Ahmedullah, Qaiser Khan, Akbar Khan, Abdul Hameed and Khan Mohammad.

The name of the eighth worker could not be ascertained. Local administration officials visited the coalmine and gathered information about the incident and launched a search operation in the area.—APP
