UPPER DIR, July 6: Three children were killed and ten others, women among them, sustained injuries, when a pick up van skidded off the road and plunged into a canal near Katan Bala in Upper Dir on Friday.

According to Gandigar police station officials, a family from Lamchar village near Samkot was returning in a Suzuki pick up from a picnic when the vehicle plunged into the canal. Three children died on the spot while eight women and two men sustained injuries.

They were rushed to the district headquarters hospital Dir. The dead were identified as Ayesha, Sadam and Sajid. —Correspondent
