LAHORE, July 3: Shahdara Town police took into custody two gunmen, one of them injured, who allegedly looted cash and cell phones from a cell phone outlet in Tarhr village and later injured a child during crossfire with police on Tuesday.

Shahdara Town SHO Atif Zulfikar said the police responded to an emergency call and chased the suspects who opened fire at police. Twelve-year-old Asim was also injured in the crossfire. Police kept chasing them and capture them identified as Fayaz, alias Fajo, and Rana Mazhar, alias Haji, and seized looted valuables and weapons on them. Mazhar suffered bullet injuries in the crossfire. He said suspects had looted Rs50,000 and 35 cell phones from Ali Hassan’s shop.

He said Fayaz was released from jail two weeks go.

In another an unrelated robbery, two gunmen waylaid Aziz Ahmad in Sattokatla police remits and robbed him of Rs40,000 and a cell phone while two robbers held Waseem in Shahdara remits and snatched his motorcycle, a cell phone and Rs22,000.

Robbers stormed into the house of Aamir in Sundar police remits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs600,000.

Some robbers barged into the house of Zafar in Shafeeqabad police remits and escaped after looting cash and valuables worth Rs500,000.

SUICDES: A teenage boy, Wali Muhammad, hanged himself to death after his parents reprimanded him in the Baghbanpura area on Tuesday.

In another incident, a man committed suicide following a matrimonial dispute in Wafaqai Colony of Johar Town on Tuesday.

Police investigation showed that 23-year-old Yaseen hanged self with a ceiling fan at his in-laws’ home after his estranged wife shifted to her relative’s residence.

Police shifted the body for autopsy.

FIRE: Valuables worth Rs450,000 were reduced to ashes in two fire incidents in the city on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 brought the blaze under control after hectic efforts.A fire broke out in the furniture godown of Muhammad Shair near Ring Road Crol Ghatti, burning down the wood worth Rs400,000.

Another blaze erupted in the house of Muhammad Sabir in Ittehad Park on Kamahan Road, reducing to ashes valuables worth Rs50,000.

ACCIDENT: A 25-year-old motorcyclist was hit and killed by a van in Shahdara Town on Tuesday.

Police said Shahid of Darbar Jameel Shah was going on a motorcycle when a vehicle hit him. He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Witnesses managed to capture the driver and handed him over to the police.
