LAHORE, July 1: Shia community launched a new platform -- Majlis-i-Wahdat-i-Muslimeen – and held a public meeting at Minar-i-Pakistan on Sunday, urging the government to take measures to stop the carnage of its members.

Speaking at a large gathering, MWM chief Allama Nasir Abbas Jafri said Shias from many parts of the country had gathered on a platform for their religious and political rights. “We will counter terrorists on our own if the law-enforcement agencies fail to stop the target killings of the members of our community,” he said.

Mr Jafri said the US embassy and consulates were the “real centres of terrorism in Pakistan” and they should be closed down.—Staff Reporter
