LAHORE, June 27: Lawyers boycotted courts on Wednesday to express solidarity with the Supreme Court and against an alleged conspiracy hatched to drag Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry into grafts scandal.

The lawyers who observed the boycott are considered to be pro-judiciary. Another faction of lawyers did not join the Wednesday’s boycott as they will observe a strike on Thursday (today).

The Wednesday’s boycott, however, appeared to be successful as lawyers did not plead cases after 10:30am before Lahore high court and subordinate courts as well. The judges adjourned cases without any proceedings.
