LAHORE, June 26: A 30-year-old woman was strangled allegedly by her husband for honour in Bagrian area of Green Town on Tuesday.

Police inquiries showed that Arshad, a factory worker, attacked his wife, Zebunnisa, a mother of a three-year-old son, after getting into an argument as he had developed suspicion over her character.

The police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against Arshad after taking him into custody.

The Sadar SP (operations) said the suspect first sent his child to Vehari and then murdered his wife.

FOUND MURDERED: The body of a man in his 30s was found in a locked house in Saidpur, Sabzazar, on Tuesday.

The police believed the victim was tortured and strangled by a family who escaped after locking the body in the rented house.

The Sabzazar station house officer said the police rushed to the spot on an emergency call by a neighbour who smelled some odour emanating from the house and took possession of the body which was apparently three days old.

He said the victim identified as Marwan Ali of Gujrat was staying with his friend, Kashif, who lived in the house along with his parents and a brother.The house owner told the police he had rented out his property to Kashif some time ago.

The SHO said Kashif, his brother Ahmad and their parents, who originally belonged to Mozang area, went missing and a murder case had been registered against them.

The Sadar SP (operations) said an unknown woman informed the victim’s mother by phone about his body lying in the house.

He claimed the suspects used a rented car to transport and dump the body in the house, suspecting Marwan, a bachelor and jobless, was murdered at some unknown location.

DROWNS: An 18-year-old boy was feared drowned in the Ravi near Khokhar Town, Shahdara, on Tuesday.

Ahmad Raza of Sheikhupura city came to the river along with cousins for taking a bath when he disappeared in deep water.

Rescue 1122 divers failed to fish out the body despite hectic efforts.

ARRESTED: Sadar division police claim to have arrested two proclaimed offenders from Sattokatla and Manga Mandi.

According to a release, Ghulam Fareed of Pir Ghani Road, Pakpattan, and Muhammad Riaz of Jambar Kalan, Kasur, have been taken into custody during separate raids.

The arrested suspects were wanted in cases of dacoity and robbery.
