HYDERABAD, May 28: The elections of the High Court Bar Association have been postponed.
The decision was taken on an application filed by a group of lawyers fearing bloodshed in the elections scheduled for May 29.
Chairman election committee Abdul Majeed Bhatti told Dawn that around 80 lawyers led by K.B.Leghari had filed an application on Monday, fearing bloodshed in the polls and expressing no confidence in his chairmanship.
He said he was shocked to see the application and decided to postpone the process. Applicants had also raised some objections relating to audit report of the bar and voters’ list, he said, adding that he could not take risk of holding elections in this situation.
