KASUR, May 26: Punjab chief minister has said Mr Yousuf Raza Gilani was violating the law and the Constitution by sticking to the prime minister’s office despite the apex court verdict and it didn’t matter whether “a convicted PM goes into an appeal or not”.
Shahbaz Sharif said this on Saturday during his unofficial visit to the district where he led a rally, besides visiting two party MNAs – Malik Rashid Ahmad and Waseem Akhtar.
The chief minister talking to local media during his visit to the house of MNA Malik Rasheed Ahmed at Ftehpur village said the unbridled corruption in the country was responsible for loadshedding, price hike, poverty and massive unemployment, urging the masses to back PML-N for resolution of these issues.
He said lust for more on the part of rulers was adding to the miseries of the people who were being deprived of even basic facilities. He also held a meeting with local politicians at the MNAs house.
Later, he led a party rally that started from Baldia Chowk and concluded at Noor Masjid Chowk at Shahbaz Khan road.
He visited the residence of MNA Waseem Akhtar to condole the death of his father along with leader of the opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ahmad, Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, besides local parliamentarians Naeem Safdar, Nadeem Yaqoob and Ehsan Raza.
Addressing the rally and later talking to the media the chief minister said the fate of the nation could not be changed till the ‘corrupt rulers’ were in power.
He parried a question that if PML-N would take part in the forthcoming general elections if held under President Asif Ali Zardari by asking “who is Zardari”.
On a question regarding alleged corruption in wheat procurement and gunny bags distribution in the district, he ordered an inquiry into the matter. It is learnt that food secretary would visit the district on Saturday in this connection.
