BAHAWALPUR, March 13: Three people, including two women, were murdered in separate incidents here on Tuesday in Saddar police precincts.

According to police sources, Muhammad Riaz wanted to re-marry but his wife Safia was opposed to it. This led to a dispute between the couple. On Tuesday, Riaz allegedly axed her to death when she was working in the fields near her house and managed his escape.

In the second incident, Dilwar Husain went to his in-laws’ house to bring back his estranged wife Naghma. Her father Shah Muhammad asked her daughter Naghma to accompany her husband, but on her refusal, Shah Muhammad allegedly opened fire, killing her on the spot. Police have registered a case against Shah Muhammad with no arrest.

In another incident, four men entered the house of Fayyaz and allegedly opened fire to kidnap his sister, Salma Bibi. As a result of which Fayyaz’s relative Khadim Husain was killed on the spot. Fayyaz suffered injuries and was shifted to hospital.

Police have registered a case against the accused, who escaped from the scene.

APCA RALLY: The All Pakistan Clerks Association held a rally on Tuesday to condemn the slapping of a lady teacher (polling officer) by PPP’s Waheeda Shah in Sindh and torture of a teacher by ex-MPA Aslam Midyana in Sargodha.

They also pressed the government for acceptance of their salary demands.

The clerks and lower-grade employees of all government offices assembled on the premises of the food department office and took out a rally.

The participants, led by Punjab Secretary-General Fakhrur Rehman Azhar, held placards inscribed with their demands to take action against Waheeda Shah and Mr Aslam. They raised slogans against price hike in petrol, electricity and other essential items. Mr Azhar demanded payment of salaries for several months to employees of Bahawalpur Development Authority.
