TIMERGARA, Jan 31:  A schoolboy committed suicide over a domestic issue here on Tuesday.

Family sources said the student, Gohar, resident of Shago Kas village, took the extreme step after his father scolded him over a petty issue.

BODY FOUND: Body of a mentally retarded youth was recovered from the River Swat near Malakand University, residents and police told Dawn.

Sources said that 27-year-old Numan, resident of Alimast village in Chakdara, had been missing for the last seven days.

Locals informed the Chakdara police station about the body lying on the bank of the river. Police took the body into custody and shifted it to the police station.

REFUSAL CASES: Executive district magistrate and district polio focal person Noor Wali Khan Wazir on Tuesday visited two families at Gul Dherai and administered polio drops to six children whose fathers had refused to vaccinate them, official sources told Dawn.

Sources said health officials reported to Lower Dir administration that two persons, Habibur Rahman and Azizur Rahman of Gul Dherai, had been refusing to vaccinate their children. Noor Wali visited their houses and convinced them.

He administered polio drops to four children of Habib and two children of Aziz on the occasion. Talking to Dawn Noor Wali said that district administration was committed to reaching every child in the district. The national immunisation campaign would continue for five days in the district, he said, adding health teams had been visiting house to house to vaccinate 229,533 children in the district.—Correspondent
