KHAIRPUR, Jan 4: A head constable died and another received injuries in an encounter with criminals near Setharja on Wednesday.

Immediately after a motorcycle snatching incident, police traced marks of tyres and footprints of bandits which led to village Wali Dad Loond. A house-to-house search was carried out to arrest the criminals.

In the meantime, unidentified bandits opened fire which was retaliated by the police. During exchange of fire, bullets hit head constable Ghulam Rasool Shar who died on the spot while constable Sultan Shar got injured. He was shifted to Setharja hospital.

Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: A young police constable died during an exchange of fire between two groups of extortionists in Ali Talpur town here on Tuesday night.

Two extortionists began firing on each other and a stray bullet hit constable Mohammad Asif Kaimkhani.
