LAHORE, Nov 15: Police claimed to have arrested 45 members of three organized gangs and recovered from them cash, valuables and illegal arms worth Rs11.8million.

The arrested suspects were involved in multiple cases of murders, robbery murder, dacoities, robberies and street crime. DIG Investigation Ali Amir Malik flanked by SSP Investigation Abdul Razzaque Cheema and Organized Crime SP Muhammad Umer Virk told a news conference at his office on Tuesday that the arrested people had confessed to no less than 120 strikes of heinous crimes.

However, the DIG did not mention the time period during which the gangsters were arrested. Malik claimed that a few of the arrested criminals had killed five people during armed robberies in Batapur, Sanda, Racecourse, Baghbanpura, and Naseerabad police areas in 2009 and 2010.

He also claimed that seven criminals among the arrested were proclaimed offenders and had a crime history.

The DIG told a questioner that the vehicle theft increased because of increase in the number of criminal gangs working in the city and that police were doing efforts to control vehicle lifting.
