The global population will hit 7 billion at the end of October, according to the “State of World Population Report 2011” issued by the UN Population Fund on October 26. In a 126-page report ahead of ceremonies on October 31 to mark the seven billionth human alive today, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) warned demographic pressure posed mighty challenges for easing poverty and conserving the environment. - Text by AFP, photos by agencies.
