LONDON: Grammy award-winning British soul diva Adele has been forced to cancel her live dates for the rest of the year to undergo surgery on her throat, a statement on her website said Saturday.

“It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011,” it said.

“She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected.

“As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”

Earlier this month the “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You” songstress cancelled 10 sold-out US dates, which themselves had been rescheduled after she bowed out of a tour earlier this year.

The singer, known for her powerful voice, has now cancelled a further six dates in Britain in November.
