LAHORE, Oct 25: Mary McBride and her band performed at the Lahore Press Club (LPC) on Tuesday to pay a tribute to Daniel Pearl, Wall Street Journal’s bureau chief in Pakistan who was murdered by extremists in Karachi in 2002.

McBride mesmerised the audience with her magical voice and touchy tunes. She has also done a soundtrack ‘No One’s Gonna Love You Like Me’ for the famous film Broke Back Mountain.

She enthralled the gathering with songs such as ‘I have Got Everything’ and ‘Silver Wings’. She concluded her singing on a Pakistani rendition ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ that received a big round of applause.

The band was a cool combination of five musicians on drums, rhythm guitar, bass, lead guitar and the lead vocalist.

The grand musical evening carried all hues, be it rock, soft or some dancing by the vocalist.

The concert was organised by United States Consulate in Lahore. The US consul general has also announced a $10,000 grant for the LPC to enhance capacity of journalists.

Pearl was also a musician who joined music groups wherever he travelled. Musicians remembered Pearl by holding concerts on the World Music Day to spread a message of hope and bring people together in a united stand for peace through the universal language of music.
