Shortage of teachers

MANSEHRA, Oct 12: The people of Sungli Bandee area have complained about shortage of teachers in a local high school.

“Because of the apathy of education department the sole high school for many villages is running without the principal and science teachers for the past many years,” said Riaz Shakir and others while speaking at a press conference in Oghi on Wednesday.

They said that four posts of the senior science teachers were lying vacant for the last many years. Resultantly, the admissions in science subjects were not being offered to students and they had to go to Oghi and other parts of Hazara.

They said that 12 posts of teachers were lying vacant in the school which had the total strength of over 400 students. —Correspondent

Students hold rally

PESHAWAR, Oct 12: Activists of Muslim Students Federation-Q held a protest demonstration near the press club here on Wednesday against the kidnapping of their fellow student and demanded his early recovery.

The protesting demonstrators were carrying placards inscribed with demands for recovery of the student, Mohammad Naeem, who is Peshawar district vice-president of MSF-Q. The protesters were also shouting slogans against the SHO of Matni police station for not taking interest in safe recovery of the victim.

The MSF leaders, Waheed Ullah, senior vice divisional president of the federation and district president Zafarullah were leading the protesters, who alleged that the kidnappers had already been nominated in the FIR but the police were least interested in arresting them. —Bureau Report

Man shot dead

MANSEHRA, Oct 12: A man was shot dead over old enmity in Thakra area here on Wednesday, police said.

Farazain Gul while lodging an FIR with police said that her husband Niazullah had come to Mansehra from Battagram to get his vehicle repaired.

She said that as Niazullah reached the workshop in Thakra area where three armed men, Khaista Bagh, Taskeen Khan and Kandposh, were also present. They opened fire and killed him on the spot.

The Sadar police station have registered a case and started investigation. —Correspondent

Awami party’s interim body

PESHAWAR, Oct 12: The newly formed Awami Party Pakistan has announced 33-member federal council for an interim period of six months to run the party affairs in the country.

The names were finalised in a meeting held here on Wednesday under the presidium of Dr Hassan Nasir, Prof Jamil Umer and Fanoor Gujar.

The council members include: Prof Sarwar Bari, Mian Aftab, Taj Murree, Shakil Ahmed, Mirza Maqsoof Ahmed, Murid Hussain Khan, Nasir Abbas Shah, Akbar Jat, Naseer Qadir, Shahadat Ali, Talib Hussain, Ramzan Semin, Khalid Mehmood, Amir Mohammad Khan Gujar, Dr Afshan Zaheer, Dr Farzana Bari, Shazia Khan, Haider Zaman Akhunzada, Malik Nadeem Awan, Shahab Khattak, Ayub Malik, Dr Hassan Nasir, Fanoos Gujar, Jamil Umer, Lateef Ansari, Nisarullah Awan, Sheeba Afghani, Shahena Ramzan, Farhat Perveen and Ghulam Fatima. —Bureau Report

Free medical camps

PESHAWAR, Oct 12: Five free medical camps were organised by the Society for the Protection of the Rights of Child (Sparc) for the children of flood affected children in the five Child Friendly Spaces (CFSs) at UCs Muhib Banda, Nowshera Kalan, Pir-Sabaq and Zara Maina on Wednesday.

A total 630 students were provided medical treatment, says a press release issued here on Wednesday. The medical camps were supervised by Zakaullah, project relief coordinator, and Asif Raza, district coordinator, CFSs Nowshera.

Dr Inamullah said on this occasion that most of the children were treated for skin disease, scabies, cough, fever, weakness etc. He added that the children in the targeted communities were direly in need of medical treatment. —Bureau Report

Absentee teachers

LAKKI MARWAT, Oct 12: Several teachers were found absent from duty by deputy district officer elementary and secondary education department during visits to different schools here on Wednesday.

Following the directives of ESED EDO Haji Abdul Malik, the deputy district officer visited primary schools in Bachkan Ahmadzai, Akhtarabad, Bakhmal Ahmadzai, Ghazi Ahmadzai, Adamzai and Kotkajaat localities and checked the attendance of teachers.Meanwhile, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) launched an operation to check electricity theft and removed illegal connections in Tajori, Sulemankhel, Bakhmal Ahmadzai and Bachkan Ahmadzai villages here on Wednesday. —Correspondent
