LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 11: Police arrested over a dozen outlaws and seized contraband during a search operation in different parts of the Lakki Marwat district during last three days.

“The operation was launched in Jabukhel, Matora, Kakkakhel, Ghaznikhel, Naserkhel, Kotka Sher Mast and Tajori areas on information about the presence of proclaimed offenders there,” said an official on Sunday.

The official said the personnel of anti-terrorism squad and elite force assisted the police in the action against criminals and law breakers.

“Under the command of newly posted DPO Gulzar Ali Khan several police parties raided the hideouts of criminals and arrested 15 notorious proclaimed absconders,” the official said.

The criminals were wanted by police in murder, attempt to murder, electricity theft and other cases.

The official said the police also seized 1,500 grams hashish from a car (8930-C Karachi) near Ghaznikhel and arrested an alleged smuggler identified as Shah Nawaz.

The police registered cases against the anti-social elements in concerned police stations.

LOADSHEDDING: Expressing concern over prolonged loadshedding, price hike and lawlessness, local leaders of JUI-F on Sunday called upon the government to take effective measures to resolve the problems.

In a meeting chaired by tehsil ameer Maulana Ahmad Shah Qureshi, the JUI-F leaders said the government had failed to resolve the problems the people were faced with.

The JUI-F district ameer Maulana Abdul Rahim, general secretary Maulana Bashir Ahmad Haqqani and information secretary Maulana Abdul Wakil Bettanni also attended the meeting.

The leaders said the rulers had no time to pay heed to the problems like power outages, deteriorating law and order situation and sky rocketing dearness.

They demanded of the district police to launch action against drug traffickers and anti-social elements so as to ensure writ of the law in the entire district.

They also demanded of the government to direct quarters concerned to launch work on the project of upgradation of Lakki city hospital and complete the work on the project of spreading Tajazai-Lakki transmission line for Lakki city-II feeder without any further delay.
