RAWALPINDI, Aug 22: A body of a woman, who was tortured and strangled to death, was recovered from a trunk on Monday, police said.

The body was found after Masood Alam, an estate agent, spotted the large size locked trunk on Misryal Road near a brick kiln and informed the police.

“The victim, around 20 to 22 years old, was well-dressed with fair complexion. It seems she was killed 12 hours ago,” the investigating officer said. He said there were burns on the body and a deep wound on her head. “She was strangled with dupatta as it was wrapped around her neck.”

Besides her body, two small pillows and some household items were also recovered from the trunk. But he said nothing else was found to help police trace her identity and family.

Police said there had been no complaint about missing of any woman in recent days.

The body was removed to the District Headquarters Hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man committed suicide in his house in Sadiqabad on Monday.

Adnan Munir, son of Muniruddin, was found hanging with a rope tied to the ceiling of his room when his family opened the door.

According to the family, he had been in distress because of domestic problems.
